First Annual Meeting
The first annual meeting will be held November 13-15, 2013, in Utrecht, and the associated WP4 workshop will precede the meeting on November 12-13.
The registration deadline is October 25th. Please register online. If you're not sure if your registration was successful, a list of registrants can be found here.
Do you have some relevant scientific results or that you'd like a chance to share with others? Perhaps a poster leftover from another meeting that might be new to IGAS colleagues? Even if your work is still at the planning stage, some input from colleagues within the project might be helpful. Although no formal poster session is planned, there is the opportunity to display posters at the venue, and with a rather small meeting there should be ample chance at coffee breaks and at lunch to discuss the science casually. So we have an idea of how many boards might be needed, a question has been added to the registration form about this. If you've already registered and know you want to bring a poster, just let us know by email. The boards are 1,02 m wide and 1,80 high, with the bottom half of this height open.
Travel directions to KNMI (Utrechtseweg 297, De Bilt) can be found here.
In short: From the train station (probably platform 1 or 2) at Amsterdam Airport ("Schiphol") you can take an Intercity Train to Utrecht. This takes about 30 minutes. From the Bus Station East ("Oost") at Utrecht Central Station you can take a regional bus (="streekbus") to bus stop Tunneltje De Bilt. Bus numbers: 50 (to Driebergen), 52 and 53 (to Zeist) are ok.
- If you then walk back in the direction of Utrecht along the road you will arrive at the main entrance of KNMI after a few hundred meters.
- In order to go to the hotel De Biltsche Hoek you have to continue in the direction of the bus but first cross the road by taking the pedestrian tunnel near the bus stop (see the map).
You can also get on the bus near the above hotels located in Utrecht, e.g. at bus stop Oorsprongpark in Utrecht.
A block of rooms has been reserved at Hotel der Biltsche Hoek in de Bilt, which is walking distance from KNMI. This block will be reserved until October 22nd, so if you want to book here, please do so quickly. A description of the rooms can be found here, and the rooms can be reserved by sending the completed reservation form to the hotel. The rates are 79,50€/night for an economy room and 89,50€/night for a comfort room. Breakfast is an additional 12,50€ per day.
If you would prefer to stay in the city of Utrecht, which has better dining options, you will have to travel by bus daily to de Bilt, which takes about 10 minutes. The following hotels have been recommended:
Maliestraat 2, Utrecht, Nederland
tel. +31-30 231 6424
F.C. Donderstraat 12, Utrecht
Arienslaan 1, Utrecht
tel. +31-30 271 58 24
